It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
